When the pressure at "P" reaches the valve setting, the pilot spool starts to open. Next, the main spool opens because of the pressure drop between the inside and outside of the main spool, realizing overflow from P to T. This type of valve is always locked from T to P; reverse can withstand high back pressure. Suitable for hydraulic systems with high back pressure from T to P.
